The University of Calgary - Qatar is hosting a special and unique celebration in February.  Our campus will be transformed into a mini version of the world-renowned Calgary Stampede.  There will be food, music, games and other entertainment ,similar to that which makes the Calgary Stampede an event that people from around the world want to be a part of, each year.  Over one million visitors are a part of the festivities each year.

The Calgary Stampede is considered the cradle of western heritage and traditions in the Calgary community where our home campus is located.  The 10-day long Stampede is staged annually in Calgary.  It has been around since 1912.  It was created to celebrate the values of the old west culture, in particular, the hard work that went into building strong communities through well-nurtured families.  We believe Qataris and the expats living here embrace those same values.

Though the Calgary Stampede and Doha are thousands of kilometres apart geographically, our values and beliefs are closely related.  The Doha Stampede will serve as a showcase of the similarities that bond Canadian and Arab cultures.

So, if you can say ‘Yahoo' you have made the first step toward celebrating the Calgary Stampede in Doha.
