The University of Calgary - Qatar conducts a number of Student Success Seminars that are designed to help students make a successful transition to university.  The seminars which are offered across fall and winter terms are full of relevant and timely information to help students get the most out of their academic life.

Thanks to the top notch technology available at UCQ, students here are able to learn from their counterparts in Calgary as well as get instruction from faculty experts at the Canadian campus.

UCQ's Polycom high definition video conferencing technology was used recently to connect the presenter at main campus with the students at UCQ. Video and audio permitted the students and the presenter to interact with one another in real time. Polycom's People in Content facility allowed the presenter in Calgary to project the desktop including PowerPoint slide decks and other computer applications that the presenter wished to display to the students while real time video and audio continued.  This type of technology is possible in part due to UCQ using Qatar Foundation's dedicated high speed connection to North America and the Calgary main campus in particular.

Students who complete 5 out of the 8 workshops within their first year receive a Success Seminars certificate by the Dean.

To date, UCQ has completed seminars covering time management, note-taking, exam preparation, multiple choice exams and is looking forward to the upcoming seminars on test anxiety, oral presentations, group facilitation, and leadership.  With the best technology available UCQ students get access to resources available across the globe.
