David B. Gottshall, the founder of the Great Teachers Retreat, will present a keynote address at the University of Calgary - Qatar on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 4 p.m.
Gottshall will be in Doha for the UCQ sponsored Doha Great Teachers Retreat February 4-6, 2010. Gottshall's address titled, "Teaching Performance & Passion" will focus on celebrating teaching by going beyond methodology and schooling to performance and passion.
Gottshall created the Great Teacher Retreat in 1969. Its purpose, according to Gottshall is to celebrate good teaching and to cause educators to venture beyond the limits of their own specializations and environments.
"We will look at some of the many ways that lead to creative teaching/learning and consider the mystery of motivation and the art of engaging students," says Gottshall. "Whether you see teaching as an art, a craft or a science, any and all of each suggest constant improvement, experimentation and adventure leading to ever deepening passion." Gottshall added.
The keynote address will take place at the UCQ auditorium on Al Rayyan Campus. It is located across from the Horserace Track.
