UCQ, International Committee of Red Cross and Qatar Red Crescent form partnership to provide humanitarian assistance programs

Doha, February 3, 2010 - The University of Calgary - Qatar (UCQ) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Committee of Red Cross and Qatar Red Crescent to provide humanitarian assistance training programs for disaster and emergency relief.

Canadian Ambassador to Doha visits UCQ

The University of Calgary - Qatar was honoured by a meeting with the Canadian Ambassador to Doha, Gary Luton. The Canadian Ambassador is in process of establishing a Doha Embassy. Negotiations are in progress on a site.

University of Calgary - Qatar Faculty and Students Ecstatic Over Research Funding

There is a lot of pride and gratitude floating around the University of Calgary - Qatar. The University of Calgary - Qatar has been awarded funding for four dynamic research projects. The money is being provided by the Qatar National Research Fund.

Writing and Research Workshop Series

The University of Calgary - Qatar's Writing Centre and Learning Commons are joining forces to conduct a series of workshops on writing and research. The pilot project is the brainchild of Chris Thomas, Chief Librarian and Martin Holock, Writing Centre Specialist.

Great educators in Qatar will have an opportunity to become even greater.University and college educators have been invited to the first-ever Great Teachers Retreat to be staged in Doha next year. University of Calgary - Qatar is hosting the event planned for February 4-6, 2010.

the UK Department of Health has announced all new nurses in England will have to be educated to degree level from 2013. "Many nursing roles are demanding and involve increasingly advanced levels of practice and clinical knowledge."

U of C Nursing Faculty celebrates 40th year

Although much has changed in 40 years, the high standard of nursing education set in those early days still remains, says Dean Dianne Tapp. “Teaching and learning in the Faculty of Nursing continue to evolve in ways that advance experiential learning, evidence-informed clinical practice and high-quality engagement between students and faculty members."
